Our Power Mix - Getting Greener All the Time
Our power portfolio, that is typically over 80% clean and renewable, is a major reason that the City of Alameda is the lowest greenhouse-gas-emitting community in Alameda County and one of the lowest in the State.
Environmental responsibility and the drive to provide reliable power at reasonable rates have been the major criteria in power resource selection in Alameda for the past 30 years. AMP recognized the need to diversify and expand its renewable resources. During this time, AMP has assembled a renewable portfolio including geothermal, hydroelectric, wind, landfill gas, and solar facilities. AMP’s commitment to exceed regulatory requirements has resulted in the City of Alameda, as a direct result of its utility’s power portfolio, ranking lowest in greenhouse gas emissions in Alameda County and among the lowest in the State. Additionally, contracting for power under long-term contracts allows AMP to reduce its risk to volatile energy markets, and provide attractive electric rates to its customers.
